In the age of agile development, the ability to produce a prototype quickly, roll it out to end users, and create a feedback loop that influences the product you produce, is vital. Before going to the expense of buying materials, setting up a line, and gearing up for production, it is wise to produce a model and get some feedback on it.
You have got a smart idea, but you need a working prototype to really show it off. Rapid prototyping allows styling and design engineers to realize their concepts beyond virtual visualization, thus provides a proof of concept for the end client, seeking for a more realistic product design rather than merely visualizing the design on screen.
At this stage, we utilise our design expertise to design a mock-up that accommodates client’s needs on components, assembly, module development, and development of package service. This is important as mock-up is designed so that feedback can be acquired from customers. It is used as part of the product development process, where dimensions, overall impression and shapes are considered.
Through reverse engineering process, we analyse the original part and extract the design information with the intent of reproducing it into a new design. This includes 3D scanning to capture the shape of the physical object, conversion of scan data to CAD file, and measurement and analysis of 3D data for quality control, product development, and production.
This is the stage where the prototyping model is produced. For any given product, there will be multiple manufacturing processes provided by DreamEDGE that we will need to select from, such as CNC milling, additive manufacturing, and silicone rubber moulding. The process we choose will depend on many factors, which we called as the process selection drivers.
